In 2013, Walker and his friend Roger Rodas died in a single-car accident after Rodas' 2005 Porsche Carrera GT crashed into two trees and a concrete lamppost in Santa Clarita, California. The actor, who was in the passenger seat, was 40 years old. The coroner's report stated that the car was traveling at a speed as high as 100 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour speed zone.
