Tottenham news: Dele Alli sidelined for next 'few weeks' with knee injury
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is expected to be sidelined for the next “few weeks” after sustaining a knee injury in training.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the news prior to his side’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The 20-year-old was left out of the squad to play the Gunners in the eagerly anticipated north London derby, and the injury means Alli will miss England’s world cup qualifier against Scotland and the friendly with Spain.
"He twisted his knee in a clash with a team-mate," Pochettino said.
"I hope it is not a big issue, it's bad luck, he's an important player for us."
The young Englishman has found the back of the net on three occasions for Spurs, and notably helped steer Tottenham to an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester City in which he added the side’s second goal.
Alli’s injury comes at the same time as Harry Kane’s return to the side.
The forward had been sidelined since September after spraining his ankle in training.
Despite being missing from action, Pochettino opted to throw his star striker straight back into the mix against Arsenal as his side attempted to end their run of six games without a win.
