Ramsey Nouah, Bimbo Akintola emerge winners at movie awards

The sixth edition of the 2016 AFIFF Globe Awards which held on November 19 at Eko Hotel and Suites saw actors Ramsey Nouah and Bimbo Akintola emerge as winners in different categories.
Ramsey Nouah, who has made giant strides in the past, went home with the “Best Actor” award for his role in the highly rated movie “76”.
The Izu Ojukwu directed movie centred on events that happened six years after the Nigerian civil war.
Ramsey Nouah played the role of young Captain Joseph Gewa alongside Rita Dominic who played the role of Suzy of whom he was in a relationship with.
Also, veteran Nigerian actress, Bimbo Akintola, won the “Best Actress of The Year” award.
The multiple award winning actress was acknowledged for her outstanding role in the movie, 93 days.
93 days is based on a true life story which focused on the outbreak of Ebola virus in Nigeria and centered around the battles fought and won, not forgetting those who lost their lives trying to save others.
Bimbo played the role of the late Stella Adadevoh who died of the deadly virus.
93 days, which is currently showing in cinemas across Nigeria, was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival 2016.
Though absent at the awards, Ms Akintola took to her Instagram page to thank the organizers of the event.
“A big thank you to the organizers of #AFRIFF 2016. I am so sorry I could not be there.. #thankyou #honoured #bestactressp” she said.
