Pastor arrested in Ogun for alleged rape

A pastor, Adekunle Francis, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest to PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday, said the suspect forcefully had sex with the victim under the pretence of praying and anointing her.
He said the suspect, at Ipamesan in Sango town, lured the girl into an uncompleted building on November 22 and raped her.
“The suspect, who was arrested on 22nd of November was said to have lured the girl into an uncompleted building under the pretence of praying and anointing her and forcefully had sex with her,” Mr. Oyeyemi said.
The police spokesperson said the victim later complained at Sango Police Station and the Divisional Police Officer, Akinsola Ogunwale, dispatched a team of detectives to the scene at Ipamesan Sango Ota where the victim was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the offence attributing it to the work of devil,” the police said.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation..
