The police in Ogun State have arrested a 40-year-old man, Victor Emafolomi, for allegedly raping and impregnating his 15-year-old step-daughter.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect committed the crime at Java Agbado in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
He added that Mr. Emafolomi was arrested following a complaint by his wife who is the mother of the girl.
“The mother, Taiwo Emafolomi, who noticed that her daughter was pregnant, pressurized the girl and she eventually opened up to her mother about how her step-father had been making love to her for quite some time, which resulted to the pregnancy”, he said.
Mr. Oyeyemi said upon the report, the divisional police officer of Agbado, Abioye Shittu, detailed detectives to arrest the man after a pregnancy test on the girl returned positive.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department for further investigation.
