Heather Graham, Stephen Mangan to Star in Bigamy Comedy ‘Bliss’

Heather Graham, Stephen Mangan to Star
European pay-TV operator Sky has greenlit bigamy comedy series “Bliss,” starring Heather Graham and “Episodes” actor Stephen Mangan, and written and directed by U.S. writer, director and performer David Cross.

Cross’ writing credits include Emmy-nominated “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” Emmy-winner “The Ben Stiller Show,” and “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret,” in which he also starred.

“Bliss” is a co-production between Merman, which produces Sharon Horgan’s Emmy-nominated “Catastrophe” and HBO’s “Divorce,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kenton Allen’s Big Talk Productions, best known for “Cold Feet,” in association with Cross’s Liberal Jew-Run Media Productions. The six-part series also stars Jo Hartley, who starred in “This Is England.”

“The series follows the complicated double life of Andrew (Mangan), a successful travel writer who, through extenuating circumstances, finds himself living between two sets of wives and children whose existences are unknown to each other,” according to a statement from Sky.

“Andrew, in a constant state of moral crisis, must find a way to balance his time and energies between his wife Kim (Graham) and teenage daughter, while travelling back and forth across Bristol to his other family, wife Denise (Hartley) and their teenage son. As Andrew’s two worlds become ever harder to contain, so does his sanity. And he finds himself going to increasingly drastic lengths to protect the two families he loves.”

“Bliss” was commissioned by Sky’s head of comedy Jon Mountague, and Zai Bennett, director of premium-pay channel Sky Atlantic. It is written, directed and executive produced by Cross, produced by Clelia Mountford for Merman, and executive produced by Allen and Matthew Justice for Big Talk, and Horgan for Merman. Filming is scheduled to start in late November in London and Bristol.
