Court Remands Nollywood Producer, Egbegbe, In Prison Custody For Alleged Iphones Theft

A Lagos State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikeja on Thursday remanded popular Nollywood producer, Seun Egbegbe in prison custody for allegedly stealing 10 pieces of iphone.

Egbegbe, who recently had a public fallout with his former girlfriend and actress, Toyin Aimakhu, was arraigned before the court on a one court of stealing brought against him by the Lagos State Police Command.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The trial Magistrate, Aje Afunwa granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

But the court direct that he should be kept at the Kirikiri Prisons pending the perfection of the terms of his bail conditions.

A mild drama, however, occurred after the proceedings, as accused person’s supporters threatened to beat up journalist if they dared take his pictures.

It took the intervention of the police and court orderlies who sent the rowdy mob out of the court premises.

While journalists waited to take Seun’s picture, his family members colluded with prison warders who sneaked him out of the court premises through the back door into a waiting prison vehicle.

Trouble started for Egbegbe on November 21,  when he went to Computer Village market in Ikeja and requested to buy the phones.

It was gathered that while the sales girl was trying to calculate the items Seun requested for, he allegedly ran out of the shop with the phones and tried to board a waiting vehicle.

The salesgirl allegedly raised the alarm which attracted other traders in the market. Egbegbe was caught and beaten to a pulp before the police intervened and rescued him.
