A Kansas couple and their friend were found dead in their driveway Sunday night in a triple homicide, their 18-month-old unharmed inside, and police have yet to identify any suspects.
“This isn’t a random person running around, ” Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said at a news conference on Monday. “We view this as a targeted shooting. We can’t see any struggle.”
Walton would not identify those who were killed but said the victims were a 37-year-old woman, a 33-year-old man and a 53-year-old man.
The younger man and woman were a couple, and the older man was their friend.
Investigators spent the night processing the crime scene and following up on leads, but so far the reason behind the shooting remains a mystery — at least publicly.
“Houses are very spread out,” Walton said Monday. “We have done a canvass of all those houses, and no one gave us any information of suspicious activity.”
Deputies were called on Sunday to Harvey County, about 25 miles north of Wichita, Kansas, after receiving a call from a female motorist who said a person flagged her down and told her about the bodies in front of the house.
Walton said the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
“We don’t usually get triple homicides in Harvey County, and it is overwhelming for our resources,” he said.
